Empty by The Cranberries

This Week’s Song of the Week was recommended by MIA Staff Karin Jervert: “This song always reminds me of the strange experience of being put on medication. Suddenly something is missing. I wanted to feel relief, I wanted to convince myself something was “better”, but all it felt like was emptiness. “Didn’t you see me? Didn’t you hear me?” I feel this lyric expresses how psychiatry does not see or hear people in mental distress and Sinead’s story reminds me of how much suffering this can cause.”
