The Call for Art
Mad in Norway is seeking submissions for a digital Art Exhibit to be displayed between films throughout the Mad in Norway International Film Festival on September 24 to 26, 2026 in Lillehammer, Norway. These slideshows will feature art that highlights how art-making can heal in times of mental distress. The call will be open for one month, starting June 15th, 2026.

The Guidelines
Criteria for Eligibility:
- Call for art is open to all those with lived experience with mental distress.
- All submissions must be made through the online form.
- Artists can upload one (1) piece of visual art showing how art helped them through periods of mental distress.
- Artwork must be original to the artist.
- Artists must upload hi-res (300dpi) .jpeg images of their work with strict dimension requirements of 2048 × 1107 pixels. You may need to stretch the work to fit. White space is acceptable.
- Artists must include a short biography (not to exceed 200 words) and a statement about how their art-making practice helps them in mental distress.
- Submission must abide by our community guidelines: The artwork content must NOT include illegal material, profanity, hate speech, discrimination based on identity or occupation, or calls for violence against any people. This website intentionally brings together individuals with varying backgrounds and values. We believe in civil, inclusive dialogue.
- Artwork politicizing issues should be avoided. We are looking for work that reflects your emotional experience.
- The artwork must be relevant to the topic of the exhibition which is the healing power of art. Off-topic artwork will not be included.
- Artists will be notified of acceptance in August 2026.
