U.K. experts report that some people become addicted to benzodiazepines within two weeks, and that when people try to stop, they may suffer “a range of painful psychological and physical symptoms, worse than their original complaint.” Those who try to withdraw too quickly may end up “disabled with pain for months if not years.”
