Nancy Remsen discusses in the Burlington Free Press the unexplained removal of executive director Linda Corey after 15 years representing Vermont Psychiatric Survivors. Corey “has been a force â mostly out of the spotlight â pressuring the state’s mental-health system to seek and listen to the voices of those it was trying to help,” writes Remsen. Even though as recently as February a group of 17 mental-health organizations recognized Corey with an award for her long dedication “to give a voice to those who have had no voice,” Remsen writes that Corey is currently in hospital and will be removed from her position shortly for unexplained reasons.
