Steve McCrea, MS, is a mental health professional, advocate and author living with his wife, Ginny, in Portland, OR. He has worked for over 30 years in social services, including over 10 years as a mental health professional. He currently works as an advocate foster children with the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program, but worked previously as an advocate for the elderly and disabled through the Oregon Office of the Long Term Care Ombudsman. He is also the author of Jerk Radar, a manual for avoiding abusive relationships by learning to recognize the early red flags of abuse. He is a member of Portland Rethinking Psychiatry, an educational and advocacy group inspired by the works of Robert Whitaker.
