“What’s this sort of flirtation, if you like, between sociology and social darwinism? … Biology sort of offers people certainty — I also think it’s fueled by funding, as well. There is this idea that if you can discover biological reasons, something about people’s brains or their genes, that somehow then you can start intervening in order to put that right and create the sort of citizens you want.”
