From Mad in Brazil: The demedicalization and depathologization of care and life are favored by the expansion of collective autonomy and care capacity through belonging to an affective network. In Autonomous Care Management practices – ACM we create collective spaces for care free from control and subordination to professional and institutional authority, in which the ways of being and experiences of people in care and caregivers, professionals or not, can be respected as they are, without judgment. In each location, we seek to establish a network for sharing care, experiences, art and culture, and harm reduction in life, including in relation to medication use.
