From Locura en Argentina: The National Nomenclature is an official catalog that regulates the health benefits and services used by people with disabilities. The Argentine government is moving forward with the 2027 budget law to eliminate it, thereby denying the right to life of people with disabilities. Fifty years after the coup, we are witnessing the continuation of the eugenic policies on disability implemented by the last Argentine military dictatorship. The employment quota for people with disabilities was one of the first laws repealed by the dictatorship. Political activists with disabilities were persecuted and disappeared. The education system underwent reforms that deepened our social segregation. All of this coincided with the concealment of Alejandro Eugenio, the disabled son of dictator Videla, who was institutionalized for life at the Montes de Oca Colony. Fascism has always sought both economic and personal pretexts to attack and destroy people with disabilities.
