Katinka Blackford Newman, who runs the website antidepressantrisks.org, has put up a petition on change.org urging suicide prevention hotlines “to ask callers if they are taking medications” that can cause suicide.

This is THE CRITICAL QUESTION. IT MUST BE ASKED, AND ASKED AGAIN, AND AGAIN.
Journalists investigated the increase in young people’s suicide in the USA and broadcast on the BBC World Service today: The Global Story.
This was an excellent caring, sensitive and moving broadcast.
The absence of any reference to the Black Box Warning on SSRI/SNRI/Antidepressant Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) left the program incomplete in its endeavour to increase knowledge, awareness and appropriate intervention.
People, their loved ones and families need to know that some (not all) who are suicidal have AKATHISIA, EMOTIONAL BLUNTING, and DISINHIBITION induced by the prescription drugs they are taking.
Thank you Katinka for this vital endeavour.
