From Mad in Argentina: The comedy-drama “27 Nights”, the third feature film directed by Daniel Hendler, is based on the novel “27 Nights” (2021), written by Natalia Zito who in turn was inspired by the documentary “Yo, Natalia” (2009), by Guillermina Pico about the story of the artist Natalia Kohen, who had to go through a legal battle against her own daughters to have her dementia diagnosis removed.
The film revolves around Martha Hoffman (Marilú Marini), an eccentric, wealthy artist in her eighties with a bohemian past and a love of free living that she embraced after becoming a widow. Unexpectedly, Martha is committed to a psychiatric clinic by her two daughters, who allege she is suffering from dementia, thus jeopardizing the family inheritance.
