1 in 4 Adults With a Mental Illness Has Been A Victim of Violence in the Past Year

In a meta-analysis funded by the World Health Organization and published in The Lancet, studies of 21,500 disabled individuals from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Taiwan, the U.K., U.S.A. and South Africa showed that adults with mental disabilities were four times more likely than non-disabled adults to have been victims of violence within the previous year, with probable lifetime prevalence much higher .
