DRUGS, Where do we stand in psychiatry?

December 15, 2022

9:00 pm - 5:00 pm CET

Currently, drug treatments in psychiatry are very often presented as the cornerstone of care for so-called "severe" disorders.

Increasingly, we are witnessing a broadening of the indications for the prescription of psychotropic drugs.

It is common to hear that "mental illness is an illness like any other", to compare it to diabetes for example, justifying a lifetime of treatment.

Conversely, how to safely reduce or stop psychotropic medication is not widely discussed or taught, which means that people in care often do not have access to useful advice or support and are left to cope alone with withdrawal.

It seems important to us to propose a time of reflection and transmission during a UPForm' day in order to take stock of knowledge on this subject and to build other possibilities. This day will take place thanks to the participation of people directly concerned, the so-called users, researchers, foreign university professors who work on the subject, but also associative actors involved with people in care.

We look forward to seeing you there with your curiosity, your questions and your experiences!
