Psychiatric Treatment Does More Harm Than Good

From Mad in Denmark:  Psychiatry must be the only “service” in the world that has no interest in what its “customers” think of the “treatment” they receive. Why would they ask them, anyway? They are crazy, after all, so what they think doesn’t matter – they don’t know what’s best for them anyway. (The psychiatrists and the rest of the psychiatric staff, on the other hand, do.)

But people are not crazy. They are stressed and traumatized. They struggle with finances, with children who are suffering due to domestic violence, with problems at school or in other institutions that listen to neither children nor parents. They struggle to find work, to afford an education, and at the same time to be good employees, parents, children to aging parents, partners or spouses. Half the population is struggling to keep everyday life together and to cope with the pressure, while the other half struggles with loneliness and the feeling of being unimportant and left on the outside.
